Karrin “Kay” Shriner is originally from Portland, Oregon and competed in track and field as a sprinter in the 100m, 200m, 4x1, and 4x4 relays. She ran competitively from 7th grade through her junior year of college, building her career through discipline, speed, and consistency.
Throughout her journey, Karrin experienced the pressure that comes with being expected to perform at a high level—not just for herself, but for family, coaches, and those around her. That weight created moments where the sport began to feel less like passion and more like obligation.
A defining moment came after undergoing foot surgery and fighting through recovery, only to realize her body was no longer performing the same. During her final conference meet—where she was expected to qualify for nationals—she suffered another injury that ultimately marked the end of her athletic career.
That moment forced her to confront something many athletes avoid—the reality of life after sport. The loss of track felt deeper than just stepping away from competition; it felt like losing a part of her identity, something she had built her life around for years.
This experience shaped her core belief:
When athletes understand they are more than their sport, they can begin to rebuild confidence, identity, and direction in a way that lasts beyond competition.
Today, Karrin works with current and former athletes to help them navigate pressure, rediscover who they are outside of sport, and build a life that still feels meaningful after sports.

▪ guidance that focuses on both the athlete and the person
Her approach is centered on helping athletes feel seen, supported, and confident as they navigate both sport and life transitions.
Karrin’s approach is built on lived experience through pressure, injury, and identity loss—experiences many athletes face but struggle to talk about.
She understands:
▪ what it feels like to carry pressure from others
▪ how quickly identity can disappear after sport ends
▪ the emotional weight of stepping away from competition
▪ the struggle of not knowing what comes next
▪ the process of rebuilding confidence after setbacks
In addition, she brings:
▪ nearly a decade of competitive track & field experience
▪ collegiate athletic experience as a sprinter
▪ coaching experience in track & field
▪ personal experience navigating career-ending injury
▪ leadership as the first in her family to attend college
This allows her to help athletes not only process what they’ve been through, but build a new path forward with clarity and confidence.
“I know what it feels like to have your life revolve around your sport, and then one day it’s gone.
I’ve felt the pressure to perform for others, the frustration of injury, and the confusion of not knowing what comes next.
My goal is to help you understand that you are more than your sport, and that there is still purpose, direction, and growth ahead of you.
You’re not starting over—you’re just stepping into a new chapter.”
“I believe athletes struggle most when they forget they are more than just an athlete.
Athletes grow the most when they recognize their value as a person first, and use what they’ve learned through sport to build their life beyond it.”
Outside of coaching, Karrin enjoys spending time with her family and close friends, traveling, working out, trying new restaurants, shopping, and spending quality time with her son. She also values time to herself to reset and stay grounded.
Fun fact: Karrin is a passionate car enthusiast and has loved cars since she was young. One of her previous cars even won awards at major shows, including Hot Import Nights.
In addition, she brings:
▪ collegiate records that still stand today
▪ first-generation college experience on scholarship
▪ coaching experience in track & field after her career
▪ a background in modeling, adding to her confidence and presence off the track
