Nakia Boston is originally from Everett, Washington and currently resides in Edmond, Oklahoma. She is a Life Coach at Sweetwine Enterprises and a former Division I basketball player at Portland State University whose athletic journey began at just four years old.
Growing up, Nakia competed at every level available to athletes—from youth basketball and high school competition to state tournaments, national events, and eventually Division I basketball. Sports became a major part of her life and helped shape her discipline, resilience, competitiveness, and understanding of what it means to pursue excellence.
A defining chapter of her journey came when multiple ankle injuries led to three surgeries and ultimately brought her playing career to an end. Like many athletes, Nakia had tied much of her identity, confidence, and decision-making to basketball. When the game was no longer there, she was forced to confront a difficult question:
Who am I outside of sports?
Through healing, building new habits, developing a stronger perspective, and leaning on a supportive community, Nakia learned that being an athlete is something she does—not who she is.
This experience shaped one of her core beliefs:
An athlete’s value is never determined by their sport, their statistics, or their circumstances.
Today, Nakia helps current and former athletes build confidence, strengthen their identity beyond sport, navigate pressure, create structure, and develop the tools needed to move forward with clarity both during and after their athletic careers.
■ Confidence and self-belief
■ Identity beyond sport
■ Transitioning out of athletics
■ Managing pressure
■ Building structure
■ Balancing life and sport
■ Direction after sports
■ Life planning
Nakia is passionate about helping athletes develop skills and habits that create lasting change rather than temporary motivation. Her goal is to help athletes build confidence and perspective that continue serving them long after their playing careers end.
Nakia brings an energetic, supportive, and perspective-driven coaching style that emphasizes personal growth, accountability, and self-awareness.
When someone comes to her for help, her goal is not simply to provide answers. Instead, she helps athletes develop a deeper understanding of their challenges and discover perspectives that allow them to confidently move forward.
Athletes working with Nakia can expect:
■ Honest accountability
■ Positive encouragement
■ Practical guidance
■ Perspective-based problem solving
■ Support through difficult transitions
■ Confidence-building conversations
■ A balanced approach to growth
Her coaching focuses on helping athletes build the tools, habits, and mindset necessary to navigate challenges with confidence both in and outside of sports.
Nakia’s coaching philosophy is built on both lived experience and personal transformation.
She understands:
■ What it feels like to compete at a high level
■ The emotional impact of career-changing injuries
■ The challenge of losing identity when sport is removed
■ The pressure athletes place on themselves
■ The influence of coaches, teammates, family members, and outside expectations
■ The importance of creating balance beyond athletics
She also understands something many people outside of sports often overlook:
Athletes experience emotional highs and lows that can dramatically impact confidence, motivation, and self-worth. Too often, performance becomes the foundation of identity. Nakia helps athletes separate who they are from what they do while still pursuing excellence in their sport and life.
“I understand what it feels like to have your confidence, your identity, and your future tied to a sport.
I’ve experienced the injuries, the uncertainty, and the difficult moments that force you to rediscover who you are outside of competition.
What I learned is that confidence isn’t built through performance alone. Confidence comes from understanding your value regardless of the outcome.
My goal is to help athletes build that confidence, develop perspective, and create a life they’re proud of both during and after sports.
Your sport is an important chapter of your story—but it was never meant to be your entire identity.”
“Athletes struggle most when they lose their self-value outside of sports.”
“Athletes grow the most when they create balance in their lives.”
“My goal is to help athletes gain and manage the tools needed to handle any situation with confidence.”
Outside of coaching, Nakia enjoys exploring creativity through painting, cooking, drawing, pottery, and other forms of art. She also has a deep appreciation for nature and enjoys hiking, visiting national parks, and spending time outdoors—something she credits to growing up in the Pacific Northwest.
She enjoys challenging herself through new experiences, continuing personal growth, and finding balance beyond athletics.
Fun Fact: Nakia has broken 11 bones throughout her life and absolutely hates cake.
