Nikki Alfano is originally from Middletown, New Jersey, and currently residing in Portland, Oregon, Nikki Alfano is a Life Coach at Sweetwine Enterprises and a former collegiate softball player who competed at both the Division II and junior college levels. Having played softball from a very young age, Nikki spent more than 20 years identifying as an athlete and building her life around the sport.
Throughout her collegiate career, Nikki transferred schools multiple times and experienced a redshirt year. During that year, she suffered a knee injury while training that required surgery. Despite her efforts to recover, her rehabilitation did not progress as expected, and her athletic career ultimately came to an end during her senior year.
When Nikki first began experiencing knee pain, she attempted to push through it rather than prioritize rest and recovery. Looking back, she recognizes the importance of listening to her body, respecting its limitations, and understanding that recovery is just as important as performance.
Losing softball also meant losing a major part of the identity she had carried for more than two decades. Without the sport that had shaped her lifestyle, routines, and sense of self, Nikki found herself having to rediscover who she was and establish a new path beyond athletics.
This experience shaped one of her core beliefs:
Athletes struggle most when they lose sight of the person behind the performance.
Today, Nikki helps current and former athletes build confidence, navigate pressure and setbacks, develop structure, and discover their direction both during and after sports. Her goal is to provide the guidance and perspective she wishes she had received while navigating her own athletic journey.
Confidence and self-belief
Identity beyond sport
Transitioning out of athletics
Managing pressure
Building structure
Balancing life and sport
Direction after sports
Life planning
Nikki chose these areas because each one connects to her own experiences as an athlete. She understands how difficult it can be to navigate performance expectations, injuries, major transitions, and unexpected changes in athletic identity.
She is passionate about helping athletes of all ages develop the confidence, support systems, and perspective needed to navigate those experiences without losing sight of who they are beyond their sport.
Nikki brings a supportive, understanding, and purpose-driven coaching style that emphasizes confidence, personal growth, self-awareness, and practical development.
When someone comes to her for help, her goal is to provide a space where athletes feel comfortable discussing their challenges without judgment. She works to help athletes gain clarity, better understand themselves, and develop practical tools that allow them to move forward with purpose.
Athletes working with Nikki can expect:
Honest, judgment-free conversations
Consistent support and encouragement
Confidence-building guidance
Practical tools for navigating challenges
Support through injuries and setbacks
Guidance during major life transitions
A focus on personal growth beyond performance
Her approach recognizes that athletes need support beyond their ability to compete. Whether someone is managing the pressure of collegiate athletics, recovering from an injury, or navigating life after sports, Nikki works to help them build the confidence and resources needed to move forward as both an athlete and an individual.
Nikki’s approach is built on her firsthand experiences navigating collegiate athletics, unexpected setbacks, and the process of rebuilding her identity after sport.
She understands:
The pressure athletes face to perform consistently
The challenges of transferring schools and adjusting to new environments
The uncertainty of experiencing a redshirt year
The physical and emotional impact of athletic injuries
The frustration of a recovery that does not go as planned
The importance of respecting your body and prioritizing recovery
The difficulty of losing an athletic career unexpectedly
The challenge of discovering who you are beyond sports
The expectations associated with representing a school or athletic program
How performance pressure can carry into future professional environments
In addition, she brings:
Division II collegiate softball experience
Junior college softball experience
A Bachelor's Degree in Health & Wellness
Certification as a Functional Nutritionist
Professional experience as a private chef
A personal passion for health, wellness, and everyday balance
Nikki understands that athletes are often held to high standards both in and out of competition. The expectation to consistently perform, represent their institutions, and adapt to changing environments can create pressure that extends beyond their athletic careers.
Her own experiences have shown her the importance of helping athletes develop confidence and direction that are not dependent entirely on their sport.
“I know what it feels like to spend your entire life identifying as an athlete and suddenly have to figure out who you are without your sport.”
“I've experienced school transfers, injuries, surgery, and the uncertainty of having my athletic career end before I was ready. Those experiences taught me the importance of listening to my body, staying grounded, and recognizing that there is more to who I am than my athletic performance.”
“I wish I had someone to help me navigate the mental and emotional side of being an athlete, especially during injury and major transitions. Someone who understood the pressure, uncertainty, and challenges that come with trying to figure out what comes next.”
“My goal is to provide that support to current and former athletes while helping them build confidence, better understand themselves, and develop the tools needed to move forward with purpose both in and beyond sports.”
“Athletes struggle most when they lose sight of the person behind the performance.”
“Athletes grow the most when they are confident in themselves and their ability to reach their goals.”
“My goal is to help athletes build confidence, stay grounded and perform as the best version of themselves!”
